no, this is not a michael jackson tribute post...
(we're movin! in case you haven't heard!)
august 3rd we received a call from our landlord asking if we'd like to purchase the house we rent now....the answer was immediately "no" to buying, but we said we'd let him know by the 7th. times are tough here in our town. not wishing to put our landlord in an even more awkward position, we decided it best to vacate as soon as possible so he could a) sell the house b) get new renters who could afford more...SO we searched(i mean NON stop from tues-friday!!) and during the first couple days of trips and phone calls to local places...no dice. we simply cannot afford to live here! we are VERY thankful that chris has provided this home for such a great price for this long! what a blessing! patrick's work has been slooooooow and he's been job searching(also, no dice) forEVER! SOOOO we thought, "is this it? is this our time to go?!" if we need to change houses AND jobs, why not look into starting totally over!?
***we've always intended to move away, even before we were married we knew we would take an adventure to a new land! it's been over 3 years, and now we are ready!***
so we switched our search to places we know good churches/friends/family...grand forks, north dakota WON!! the cost of living is 23.6% cheaper there(mainly seen in utility bills!) and they have a HUGE job pool! we prayed that God would direct us to the right place, the place was four miles over the border, into minnesota. a happy little apartment in east grand forks! we'll save $125 each month on rent and about $175 on our utility bills...AND heat & water are INCLUDED!!! we'll have one less bedroom and about 100 less square feet than where we are now...but less expenses too! holla!!
LONG story short(trust me it's even longer than this) we asked for wisdom and clarity, praying psalm 25:4-5 "make me to know your ways o lord, teach me your paths, lead me in your truth and teach me! for you are the god of my salvation, for you i wait all day long." if this was it that we'd have a new home approved by friday the 7th. friday afternoon, i received the call. also that afternoon i got a call about a moving truck rental...cheaper AND better than the one i was planning to reserve! praise the lord! we have no doubt this is our time to move and the place to go! forever? we'll see! maybe california or france next!?? who even knows! it's a BIG world our there!!
at this point, patrick has been laid off and i am still working part time at pier 1 AND i have transferred my job to grand forks!! i will work my hide off fulltime until patrick gets final word about work. he's applied to lots of interesting jobs! pray for us! what an exciting and bittersweet(to leave here) adventure! we plan to pack the truck on september 8th and leave either that night or bright and crazy early the 9th.
i have especially wanted to be near my sissay pants...this is incredible! thank you jesus!
